The breakneck speed of the Chinese Super League continues this week with another set of games taking place over Wednesday and Thursday this week. Let’s get right into the mix then!
League leaders Beijing Guoan have been relentlessly good this season but their run of wins came to end last time around with an entertaining 2-2 draw against Shanghai Shenhua in the China Derby. Their quality will be put to the test once again when Hebei China bring their talent to the Workers’ Stadium in Beijing. However, Hebei are on a run of three consecutive draws and fans will be hoping for a change in the result.
Last season’s second and third-placed teams Shanghai SIPG and Tianjin Quanjian go head-to-head in a mouth-watering clash. SIPG are three points behind the leaders but have played a game less, meaning their destiny is in their own hands as it stands. Quanjian are sitting pretty on 21 points, six behind what SIPG have won so far this term.
Guangzhou Evergrande showed their quality with an emphatic 5-0 win over Chongqing Lifan over the weekend. It was a very impressive display from Fabio Cannavaro’s boys as they look to get right back into the title contention with another win, this time against Tianjin TEDA. TEDA broke a three-game slide last time with a 3-2 win over Dalian Yifang.
Henan Jianye take on Champions League-chasing Jiangsu Suning. Henan won their last game and are on the up with just one defeat in their last five games. Jiangsu will be looking to get back to winning ways after drawing their last three consecutive ways.
Shandong Luneng welcome Shanghai Shenhua in another mouth-watering clash in the Chinese Super League. Luneng dropped points over the weekend to dent their chances of a title and their job doesn’t get much easier with Shenhua coming to town. Expect fireworks in this eye.
14th placed Changchun Yatai take on 15th placed Dalian Yifang in a relegation 6 pointer at the foot of the table. It is a game of very important repercussions as Tifang can finally get to a touching distance of safety after weeks of being cut adrift from the rest of the Chinese Super League. Both teams have lost their previous two games but a winner in this one will be huge momentum boosting result for either side.
In another crunch clash at the foot of the table, Guizhou Hengfeng takes on Chongqing Lifan. The 13th placed side sit nervously at the bottom end of the table with just four points separating them from Dalian Yifang in 15th place. Like the last game, this is another matchup with epic proportions with respect to who stays and who gets relegates at the end of the season.
The final game of the weekend sees Guangzhou R&F take on Beijing Rehne. R&F is in the midst of their worst run of form this season and are winless in 5 games. Rehne should realistically be in with more than an outside shot of causing an upset and going home with all three points. Promises to be a cracking picture, this one.
