We’re back with more from Central Asia and as the league in Uzbekistan continues, you can read all about the weekend’s action in its own separate report. Here you’ll get to find out the results from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. If you missed last week’s results, you can read up on all that over here.
Top of the table clash in Kyrgyzstan
It was a weekend of relatively low-scoring games in the Kyrgyzstani top flight. On Saturday Neftchi beat bottom of the table Akademiy futbola 2-1, meaning Akademiy are still without a single point from their first nine games. FTs Bishkek crawled out of the relegation zone with a 1-1 draw against Abdish-Ata, while Kara-Balta were the team to fall in as they lost 6-0 to second in the league Dordoi Bishkek at the same time.
On Sunday was the big top of the table clash as second-placed Alga had fallen to fourth over the course of the games the day before, and needed a win against top of the table Alay. They could however, only manage a draw and so instead of going top of the table, they ended in fourth while Alay holds a two-point lead.
The Kyrgyz league now takes a break over the next couple of weeks before being back on the weekend of June 8th.
Busy times in Tajikistan
It’s a hectic schedule in Tajikistan with games coming thick and fast. There were games this weekend and there are games being played today, we’ll cover those next week.
Last weekend saw bottom of the table Barki Tajik pick up their first win of the season as they beat third-placed Khation 1-0 on Saturday in impressive fashion. The league lead changed hands this weekend. Despite being undefeated Istiqlol, who could only manage a 1-0 win over second from bottom Panjsher, had to give up their lead as Khujand beat Kuktosh 2-0 and lead the league on goal difference. Istiqlol do have one game in hand however. The final game of the weekend saw Regard-TadAZ draw 2-2 with CSKA Pomir in the bottom half of the eight-team table.
Few games in Turkmenistan
Not a whole lot of action to report on from the Yokary Liga in Turkmenistan, but there is some. Köpetdag Asgabat took their second win of the season when they beat Energetik on Saturday 1-0. That means they now have contact with the teams above. The league lead changed hands as Asgabat beat Merw 1-0 and took the lead by a point. However, Sagadam in second have two games in hand.
