Indian Men’s Senior National Team Head Coach Igor Stimac has named a list of 41 probables for the preparatory camp ahead of the AFC Asian Cup Final Round qualifiers in June.

The players and the support staff assembled in Bellary on April 23, 2022, started training from April 24, 2022 and finished it on May 8, 2022. The team will next move to Kolkata to continue in the camp till the qualifiers.

The Mumbai City FC and ATK Mohun Bagan players joined the camp after their respective club commitments.

India have been drawn alongside Hong Kong, Afghanistan, and Cambodia in Group D of the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 final round qualifiers. The leg which will kick off on June 8, will be played at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in June. India play their first match against Cambodia on June 8.

In the March international window, the Blue Tigers had earlier played International Friendlies against Bahrain and Belarus.

Practice Games

The Indian national football team will be featuring in two practice matches and two international friendly games before their AFC Asian Cup 2023 final qualifying round in Kolkata in June.

In the games, India will face lower-ranked opponents, Hong Kong, Afghanistan, and Cambodia.

The Blue Tigers will reportedly play all practice games in Kolkata before heading to Doha to play two international friendlies.

Igor Stimac’s side will first face ISL side ATK Mohun Bagan on May 11 before lining up against I-League All-Stars on May 17.

Following these two games, the Blue Tigers will leave for Doha, where they will face Zambia and Jordan on May 25 and May 28, respectively.

All three of India’s qualifying group D games are scheduled by the AFC to be played in Kolkata, which hands them a major boost in getting positive results in front of their home crowd.

A total of 24 countries feature and compete in the AFC Asian Cup, and as of now, 13 teams are already through to next year’s tournament, whereas another 11 teams will face a final round of qualifying games in June to decide their fate on the continental front.
