Today’s the day the teddy bears have their picnic. Afternoon to one and all. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last week or so, I’m guessing you know there’s a rather big game going on today. One that will have winners. One that will have losers. Dreams will be made. Hearts will be broken. That’s right, I am, of course, referring to Long An II versus Ben Tre in the second division of Vietnam.

I Am The Teddy Bear

To give you a better idea about the teddy bear reference, I am the teddy bear and I will be having the picnic. At this moment in time, Long An II are the worst side in the top three divisions of Vietnam. I’m wondering whether I should take my boots or not.

Jokes aside, I’m still a million miles away from where I need to be fitness wise. I’ve kept up the swimming which I suppose is something, but when I played football midweek, fucking hell, I was dead on my arse after five minutes. The heat doesn’t help here, there’s literally no air. Humid is the word I’m looking for.

Regardless of the heat and what have you, my magic feet are still there. Yes, that may sound awfully obnoxious, it is what it is. Get over it. I was pinging passes for fun. Switching the play. Lofted through balls. What a player I am. Ha. Fitness is key and once that is there, I’ll start looking for a club. Or clubs will start looking for me. Probably the latter.

It Hasn’t Gone To Plan So Far For Long An II

Sadly, I can’t play football this week coming as there’s a midweek matchday in the V-League which naturally takes priority. Today should be fun, though. Long An II have lost their first two games 6-1. They need a good luck charm. Lady luck might be smiling on Long An II today as Ben Tre have lost both of their opening games as well, at least they can’t both lose this one.

Do I just go blunt and ask if I can join in training? Not today, but some other time. It’s a right dilemma I find myself in. Long An II and I seem like a match made in heaven, now it’s just time to get the ball rolling. I’m looking forward to either being a hero or being run out of Vietnam with pitchforks. Either way, it makes for a good series.

Until the next time.
