We have a new club sitting pretty at the top of the pile in the Chinese Super League after Beijing Guoan secured a 2-1 win over Henan Jinaye and Shanghai SIPG drawing against Shandong Luneng in a top of the table clash.

Beijing Guoan won their sixth game in seven matches and maintained their 14 game unbeaten run with a routine 2-1 win. Cedric Bakambu opened the scoring after the 32nd-minute mark before Zhuoyi Feng equalized for Jianye in the second half. But, after loads of pressure on the opposition goal, Johnathan Viera managed to secure the win late in the second half for Beijing Guoan.

In a top of the table clash, Shandong Luneng and Shanghai SIPG played out a 1-1 draw where the real winner was Beijing Guoan. Jingdao Jin opened the scoring for Luneng before Oscar equalized for SIPG in the second half. Shanghai probed and tested the Luneng defence but could not find a way through. Luneng grew into the second half really well and could have taken all three points.

Guangzhou Evergrande returned to winning ways courtesy of a stunning hat-trick from marquee signing Anderson Talisca. Paulinho returned to the Evergrande set up and had a good game, but the star attraction was Talisca. Lin Gao opened the scoring after the eighth minute mark before Talisca took over. Evergrande are now four points adrift of the top of the League they’ve dominated and this could be the start of a decent run for the defending champions.

Dalian Yifang and Hebei China Fortune played a drab goalless draw. The result leaves Hebei in midtable while Yifang remains in the relegation battle despite a win and a draw in their previous two games.

Shanghai Shenhua had to rely on a late winner from Demba Ba to secure all three points against Tianjin TEDA. Shenhua played the better and more purposeful football and quickly bounced back from a defeat in their last outing. TEDA have lost their previous two games and could be looking over the shoulder as the relegation battle intensifies.

Jiangsu Suning and Beijing Rehne played out a goalless draw in Jiangsu. Rehne had Liang Shi sent off in the second period for a second yellow card but managed to hold onto a precious point. Jiangsu remains outside contenders for a Champions League spot while Rehne remains in midtable.

Tianjin Quanjian beat Guangzhou R&F 2-1 courtesy of goals from Alexandre Pato and Xu Yang in the first half. The result was more or less decided as despite a red card for Xuri Zhao, R&F could not turn things around. Eran Zahavi scored a late goal to set up a grandstand finale but the goal remained a mere consolation rather than the start of a comeback.

Chongqing suffered a 2-1 reverse at home to Changchun Yatai as an own goal from Yongzhe Cui turned out to be the difference in a hard-fought game. Ighalo managed to get on the scoresheet once again and continues his impressive form this season.
